This book deals with Gijón’s “Gota de Leche”, an institution created at paediatrician Mr. Avelino González’s initiative. The text goes through Mr. Avelino’s professional biography, insisting on his years of apprenticeship. Moreover, the historical context in which the new medical discipline of paediatrics appeared is analysed. The book highlights that the most distinguished professional fulfilment of this new discipline was the phenomenon of the “Gotas de Leche”.
