In this original research, the author studies the different episodes of the life and work of Jovellanos. In this way, he makes important contributions and interpretations, some of them original, like the limitation of the influence of Pablo de Olavide on the Enlightenment philosopher, his time in the Royal Academy of History, his poisoning, denied by some historians but ultimately proven by the Institute of Legal Medicine of Asturias. Lastly, the author devotes a chapter to Juan Agustín Ceán Bermúdez, Jovellanos's loyal friend.
