This work is divided in three parts: the first one is a study on the guilds of the sea, their origin in Spain and their development, decay, and later liquidation of their estate in Gijon. The second part is a list of the ordinances of the guild of sailors of Gijón of 1679 and, lastly, we have six appendices about issues related to said guild and its 400 years of history.
